View Full Version : do others have a "Pain in the B*tt" ... ?

I was just reading some other posts and saw a few people say they had a deep pain the butt.. on the left side, "like a horse kicked me" .. I have that!

and I didn't know that might be a symtom/side effect...

I'm looking for information about this. I've known about my infection for a long time, and haven't had an OB in more than 9 months.. but this pain has been here for the last 5 or 6.

I was thinking it was some sort of back problem that has expanded or something. Could it be related to HSV?

Hi Zaphod,

I was the one who made the horse analogy. I probably should have said 'donkey' instead because I have one.

I know that my pain is herpes because I got it right when I got my first OB. It comes on strong right before an OB---I suppose it's the virus traveling down the nerves.

It goes away completely sometimes but is my most persistent symptom overall. I can get it on the other side too, but it is more common on the left. It's even tender to the touch at times.

That's all I know!
Take care,
Mutz

Mutz,

thanks for the response. I'm still trying to get a better handle on this, to see if you and I have the same thing going on..

Do you know "the #4 stretch"? if you're sitting in a chair, right foot on the ground, left ankle on your right knee (making a bent #4) and you lean over to bring your nose to your left knee.... you should feel a stretch in your left butt cheek.

When I do that stretch, it's right where I have this pain in my butt. Is that like yours? I've been told by massage people that my muscles are tightening and flexing more than they should be.. sometimes I can feel it all down my leg...

Let me know what you think,
Z

Hey, there. I too have that pain in the butt, but mine always radiates to the front abdomen like around the belly button area. Does the pain affect you at all in your abdominal area?

I think I am having my first OB (or at least the first one I've actually noticed) and at the beginning I too had streaks of butt and leg pain on the left side. I also had a little bit of lower back stiffness. I was thinking it was a symptom of my endometriosis b/c my left ovary is covered with endo and often causes little pains. I never correlated it to my OB until now. Weird! Now I'm wondering just how long I've had "H", since I've been dismissing the pain as endo for a while now. I may have had this longer than I thought!

I also get the butt pain sometimes with an OB.

But have you thought of something like sciatica? A friend of mine gets it right there, and goes for massages and has to rest up.

If this pain goes on consistently, and does not just come with an OB, it might be something to look at.

Yes, this has been a pain in the butt for me in more ways than one, too. Mine feels like I've done some heavy squats. Interestingly, when I am working out regularly, I never experience this.

Yes, I have had a horrible butt pain since day one. This is the day 60 and it is still there on both sides sometimes. I have to put a pillow on a chair to be seated. When I workout it is hard for me to do the butt blaster because it really hurts! This herpes is literally a pain in the butt! I wish I could go back 60 days...Oh, well ...this has been my hardest and greatest life lesson.

Island girl,

I haven't ever really had any pain around the abdomen.. but (total conjecture) ..maybe cause I'm a guy?

Here's another question for the crowd about this:

I find that when my girlfriend gives me a DEEP muscle massage right there.. using her elbow to dig deep into the muscle tissue against my hip bone, it gets right at the spot. Does that sound like the same spot?

I'm really glad we're talking about this..

Well it's been a long time since I've had the luxury of having someone to stick their elbow in my butt. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif LOL Seriously, I've never tried massaging that area (as you point out, it's hard to get at the spot), but I do get what feels like a sore or pulled muscle in my butt as part of my prodrome (pre-OB warning) symptoms, and the soreness does feel like it's very deep in the buttock area. I've only noticed this just before I get an OB at the top of my buttocks so I've assumed the OB location itself was affecting a muscle somehow. But after hearing all of you saying you've had the same thing, I'm wondering if it's more than that. Very interesting.

Sometimes when I get a really bad OB....they all suck.. I get a pain right under my left butt cheek. Along with it is usually inflammation of the glands in the groin area.

Is there no end to the symptoms of this charming virus!

Why in the world do you suppose the pains we are having and reading about here are happening much more often on the LEFT side, instead of the right? Any ideas?

I have it on both sides sometimes. Sometimes more on the left, sometimes more on the right, sometimes on both sides http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
