I just wanted to recommend L-Lysine (an amino acid) to ya'll. I have been using it for 2 years now and my outbreaks have reduced from 2 or 3 blisters a week to 1 or 2 a month (with a high stress load). I take anywhere from 1000mg to 2000 mg a day. Just be sure that the brand you buy is a respectable one. I hope this is not considered advertising or promoting- just wanted to help....

Not to burst your bubble, because lysine seems to work for many people, but people generally have a decrease in outbreaks after the first year anyway...
Also, 1 or 2 a month is still a lot espec after a year! Have you considered anti-virals?

With all the other medicine I am on, it is not that much. And going down to one or 2 a month instead of 2 or 3 a WEEK- that is a huge difference!!! Also, I can not take anti-virals for other reasons.
