8 weeks ago i made out with a girl i met.
at 4 weeks i broke out with whiteheads all around my mouth. none on my lips. and all the whiteheads were painless and easily poppable. i did get an itchy feeling around my nose and the side creases of it.
at 8 weeks, i still have some whiteheads.
could this be herpes?
and is 8 weeks a long enough time to test?

Hi DDD,
It's possible what you have is oral herpes. This is extremely common. If that's what you have, your "whiteheads" are actually known as "cold sores" or "fever blisters." Did you get flu-like symptoms with this, like swollen lymph glands or fever? It's not an uncommon symptom to get with it, if that's what it is.
You should get your doctor to do a swab test on a sore, preferably a fresh one but you could try a test on an old one too. To do a swab test, you should get in there as soon as possible after symptoms appear. You're thinking of the blood tests which take time to produce accurate results. You could get a type-specific blood test too, although most people have oral HSV-1 (almost always the cause of oral cold sores). If this just started for you, it would be more helpful to get a swab test done, but you might have to try several times before getting the positive result you'd need to confirm the diagnosis. I'm not sure if a blood test would be the most helpful at this point but you could try and see what it comes up with. Sorry if that sounds confusing.
Good luck! Let us know how you make out.

i dont know if this matters but i've been under a lot of stress the past 8 weeks and have had acne problems my whole life. i changed my diet to mostly junk food and fast food, have had panic attacks, constantly worrying, haven't been bathing or shaving as much as i used to.
so about 4 weeks of this i had a breakout, mostly whiteheads on my face. i still have been getting these whiteheads and its week 8. none are painful and they are easily poppable. i also have this itchy feeling around my noise the whole time.
from what i read i thought herpes usually occured 2-12 days post exposure and didn't last very long.
mine happened 4 weeks later and have remained for 4 weeks. the pimples arent all in the same spot the 4 weeks but i still get them.
