I know how you feel. I have been struggling with just finding out for the last 6 months. It is unbelievable how sad it can make you feel sometimes. Your life is not over, you have to be strong and lighten up a bit. There are a lot of support groups and also, no body has to know until you are ready to open up to them about it and only if you really trust them. If you focus on your life and really take good care of yourself, you could be a person that is emotionally, pysically and spiritually more healthy than those without herpes. You will be okay. and I will be okay. What other options are there? You cannot let this stupid cold sore ruin your life. Think about all the horrible diseases that you are lucky not to have, right? It is so common...just keep telling yourself these things and do not be self defeating. Good luck to you. :)

Hi, I just found out I have herpes yesterday. I was crying my eyes out pretty much the whole day. I thought it was just a rash really so to go to the doctor and have her casually tell you "yea you just have herpes, it's not the end of the world" makes it feel like your world is falling apart.

Luckily I have a great bf at the moment. We don't know how I got it or if he has it, but he just keeps telling me that we have to be positive. And that he doesn't want to be with anyone else, only me, and that we will have the best relationship ever.

As you can see some guys can be so sweet and supportive. Women too. It's just a matter of finding someone who loves you and looks past your illness. I really underestimated my bf and thought he would break up with me.

What helped me get more positive was also reading the "Happy couples" thread. Have you seen it? It is filled with stories from couples who are living hpy healthy lives with the virus. Most of them have partners who are herpes free. Feel free to respond so we can talk more about this

I'm still wishing this was a bad dream but I think I am dealing ok with it at the moment. But I am still adjusting to the whole new situation.
