I think I may have developed anxiety and panic attacks from having GERD. Or it may be that I have developed GERD because of panic/anxiety attacks.
Several of the issues that many people on this board have described and some of what I have, sounds very much more like anxiety than it does GERD, however, I don't think I don't have GERD .... If that makes any sense whatsoever. :)
I think it's time I talked with my doc about anxiety and the possibility that the breathing problems (can't get a deep breath sometimes), the tightness/pressure in chest, heart palps, dizziness is more anxiety than anything else.
Anyone here been dx'ed with anxiety and with GERD/LPR? How could you tell the difference?

my boyfriend has both. I am not 100% sure if it's acid reflux or gerd. The anxiety seems to start up when he vomits for days at a time. The vomit is clear mostly-sometimes it's brown. He complains that he can't breathe.

Hi Noggin! I have both and it is hard to tell the difference. BUt I can tell you that the GERD or acid reflux definately sets of panic attacks. When I was coming down with it I thought I was developing asthma. It scared the daylights out of me. I thought my throat was closing up. It was the acid and mucus making it swell. That most definately sets off a panic attacks. You are not alone.

anxiety is horrible. You feel like you can't get enough air into your body, your collar feels to tight even though its loose. AAAAAHHHHH. Does anybody know what its like to be normal?

Thanks for the responses. Although I'm sad that we share this, it's good to know I'm not alone. The anxiety on top of the GERD/LPR seems to be a vicious cycle that keeps me all bottled up. I get glimpses of what it's like to be "normal" but it usually doesn't last long. :(
I'll update after I talk w/ the doc about my anxiety, if it is indeed anxiety.

I know this may sound stupid but I'll say it anyway. When my anxiety starts to act up, I watch something stupid to try to refocus on something meaningless. ex. Spongebob square pants. I know I sound like a 4 year old, but it really does help, Thank God for on demand.
