This is just a shot in the dark, but since I have never heard of break outs from whey protein, maybe it will shed some light.

I assume you are taking whey protein because you are working out. Are you making sure to wash your face or shower every time after working out. I start to break out a bit if I don't stay clean after workouts. This is a much more likely cause of the breakouts.

yes i have a shower after ever session, ive been working out for over two months now since getting back into it but only started taking the protein a few days ago. i had no breakouts until i starting taking the whey protein, surely its related?? why would it just happen when i go on the stuff, its not as if im overloading on taking it, just over a scoop after training!

Hmm... I have never had this happen with me! Maybe it just doensn't work well with your body for some reason. Or it could be something else in the whey protein. Maybe you can try to find another source of protein instead. I know when I work out more, I tend to break out from the sweat, even if I do shower right afterwards. I used to do a much more mild workout, but would drink whey protein shakes as meals in order to get more vitamins and protein, but never broke out until I worked out more.

It is my understanding that once they separate out the protein from the whey, they create monosodium glutamate or MSG. It might be the MSG that you are having reactions to. Anything like pea protein or soy protein will have as a result a free glutamic acid as a result of the processing. This is what often triggers MSG reactions. <removed> But, in short, my guess is that you are having a reaction to MSG and would be well advised to search your other food for hidden forms of MSG and then to avoid those foods.
