presently taking Diovan HCT 320/12.5 at bedtime and Amlodipine 5mg in the morning. blood pressure is now in 130/75 range most of the time. not scheduled to see the cardiologist again until next year and wonder if it's safe to experiment by cutting the pills in half and see if i continue to get the same results on decent bp. when i started it was averaging 150/80.

How long have you been on that dosage of meds?

130/75 is an acceptable bp number, but I'm not sure I would start trying to cut back. Most doctors like to see a systolic of 120 or less and diastolic of 80 or lower.

Maybe a call to your cardiologist would be in order before experimenting with a lower dosage?
