View Full Version : Why does my daughter cower?

My daughter is 2 and everytime I say her name firmly or go near her when she's done something wrong, sometimes she cowers. I don't know why as she does not go to daycare currently. I'm home with her all day and her or my husband have never laid a hand on her. She's never even been to a babysitter other than family and I know both grandma's or my sister would never lay a finger on her! She does play pretty rough with her 9 yr. old cousin, but that's all I can think of.

Is this a normal reflex they have or could it be a result of her just playing rough? My grandma was the one who actually brought this up to me b/c she did it at her house also. Geez, I don't people to see it and think I hit my kid, lol.

My daughter and nephew used to do this. They had really sensitive ears and any loud noise (voice, car, toy, etc...) would scare them to death.

It doesn't mean it has anything to do with hitting. She probably is just learning a new reaction and this is just what she is doing. My daughter tries out a variety of new reactions all the time because she is in a stage where she is learning from us, the cartoons she watches, playmates, etc. She is also two.
