I'd like to know that, too. Or if being hot would lower your bp and heart rate go up? I had gone to chiropractor and stopped at grocery store and used the bp machine. My bp was 109/70 and heart rate 79. I waited 5 minutes and it was 107/66 and heart rate 84. I am on a low dose of metoprolol. My heart rate has been in the 60'd and 70's lately. Wonder if worrying about chiropractor and my insurance paying for the treatments got my heart rate up.

Heat causes blood vessels to dilate and can lower your blood pressure that way, to try to compensate your heart rate will increase to raise the blood pressure.
If one's heart rate is high enough they may not actually see a drop in blood pressure - for example, I can come inside after being in the heat and my blood pressure may be 102/68. Sounds good, right? Heart rate would have to be around 148-150s to do that. (Note -this is just for me and my odd BP and HR issues, though. )
Please be careful with chiropractor care, by the way. There's a nerve that go through the back of your neck that if damaged in any way can cause you to have blood pressure and heart rate issues - along with other problems. Also, rule out serious spine problems, if possible.

Thanks aether4! I am seeing a chiropractor due to inflammation between ribs that I have had off and on for years. This dr is doing activer release therarpy for my left back shoulder area. He is not doing anything to my neck. My spine is curved, too. So far treatments are helping. Not sure if I will continue as he says he can straigthen the spine and I have seen x-rays of other patients that have had this done. It has been in the low 90's so it is hot here! Thanks again! Pam
