if you just found out you have hpv and you already had 2 shots of the gaurdisil are they still effective?

Gardasil protects you against four strains of HPV, so if the strain you have isn't one on the vaccine, you will be protected against all four. If the strain you have IS part of the vaccine, you would only be protected against the other three.
In any case, you would be partially protected, so I would still get the third shot because I'm sure multiple strains of HPV are less fun that one!

I agree. I recommend you go ahead with the third shot so that you will be protected against the other three strains.
