View Full Version : Prodrome Symptoms

About two weeks after having unprotected sex, I developed severe itchiness in my vagina. I went to the doctor and she diagnosed me with a yeast infection. I also had the cottage cheese discharge. After seven days of Monistat and Lotrimal (an antifungal) it cleared up and got better. However, I still don't feel 100% in that area and am basically scared to death. I am still checking myself constantly any time I feel anything "unusual" in my vagina. I woke up about an hour ago, with what I thought was pain (more like a brief shooting pain) in a certain spot and checked it and compared it with the opposite side but it looked normal. I put some more lotrimal on that area to see if it would burn excessively as I heard that antifungals would make herpes worse. There was basically no feeling to it. I was checked for STD's and given a blood test, but was told by the doctor that if she does not call me then everything is normal. (Its been two weeks without a call even though I called there once.) I know I have to wait three more months to be retested just to be sure, but I don't know if I can last that long. I'm not sleeping or anything and am having heart palpitations. I guess my question is whether a yeast infection or herpes can cause shooting pains. They are very minor and occur different places usually in my clit though. I know I've been pulling the hood back a lot to check in there. I know no one can tell me definitely what I may or may not have. I just keep thinking these pains are prodrome symptoms and was wondering what they feel like. Its now been almost six weeks since the unprotected sex and almost two weeks since the yeast infection has cleared.

The pains you are speaking about from herpes doesnt sound like the ones you are having. They are usually in the buttocks/back of legs. Its odd like your skin is sore or something, at least for me. It sounds like it was probably a yeast infection but you are worried and so your mind is playing tricks on you. I did that after I was diagnosed with herpes. If it helps you to feel better, get retested, but I think you are fine.
