My Rheumy has prescribed a TENS unit for me.
Has anyone with fibro tried this and if so, can you share your experience with this? A TENS unit is electrical stimulation used for pain management. My Rheumy described it as a continous massage, i think the one i will be getting has the 5 patches.
Anyone with Fibro who has or is using this TENS unit, does this help relieve your pain?
I sure would appreciate any responses on this therapy.

Hi there I have used a tens unit in the past for my back pain but never specific for fm. It did help relieve my pain sometimes. It is something that is hard to describe it kinda like shocks you as it massages don't touch the pads with your fingers while its on , thats a hair raising experience. I am glad you brought it up cause I still have mine and it would help when the back is spasming ..Good luck with it

I have used for elbow and shoulder pain, lower back pain. It does give some temporary relief. Some of my pain I attribute to FM but I also have cervical disc problems, so it is unsure about whether the pain is truly FMS or something else.

I tired it a long time ago for the fibro, I was still working at the time and the thing about drove me nuts, I didn't get any relief from the pain with it, but everyone isn't the same, you might give it a try and perhaps it will help you out, doesn't take long to put it on or take it off.
Good luck, you may just be the one that it works on.

i have used tens units for yrs now, just got a new one last month...boy they really have all the bells and whistles now! it helps my pains fibro and spine, joint disease while i have it on...for me it is short term relief, but still relief. i use it mainly when everything is flaring up at once. just don't place it anywhere that has a pulse.
