Did any of you men have a very slight primary OB but severe recurrent ones? Or, is it true that the primary is usually the most severe?

The first out break is the worst .

Well my first was very severe, had lots of lesions, lots of pain and itching and VERY sore lymph nodes in my groin. So sore that I had to take vicodin to ease the pain. I had it for a week before I was diagnosed and given acyclovir. It lasted about 3 weeks or so.
My two next recurrents were milder, the first VERY mild... loading up on lysine made it go away in 2 or 3 days. The next was a little bit worse, had to take acyclovir since I was laid up with pneumonia at the time so my immune system needed some help. But it was only like 2 mild sores really.
However, the OB that I just got over less than a week ago was almost as severe as my first. I had to REALLY bombard it (500mg of lysine 3x a day, 500mg of olive leaf extract 4x a day, acyclovir 5x a day plus garlic oil 2-3x a day) and it lasted about as long as my first one did.

So yes and no. There is no way to know why recurrent OBs can suddenly be so severe, but it can happen. I hope that answers your question
