I've been doing some reading here.
HSV 1 is more easily transmitted to mouth.
HSV 2 is more common genitally.
I read that HSV 2 is rare in the mouth? how true is this?
I read that hsv 2 is harder to get orally and if you do get hsv 2 in the mouth, the outbreak is milder and usually doesn't have recurences. how true is this?
This leads me to belive that if I have hsv2 on the penis then if I get it orally, I most likely wouldn't have any recurences? and it is hard to get orally because it is "away from home"
Problem is, I don't know what type I have genitally.
i had several pimple size ( about 1/8 " dia) and a larger cluster of many small pin like vesicals in about a 1 inch square area on left side of shaft below the head.
does this sound like 1 or 2 or do blood tests need to be done to tell?

You need to get a blood test to determine what type you have. Herpes can manifest in all kinds of different ways and it doesn't matter what type it is.
If you come up positive for type 2, then it's type 2. If you come up positive for only type 1, then it's type 1.
As for HSV2 orally, yes it is rare but there's no way to know how mild or severe it will be and if you'll get recurrences.
I have had oral HSV1 since I was a small child. I rarely got cold sores and only one mild sore in the corner of my mouth. I haven't had one in 7 years now.
I got genital HSV1 in December 2002 from my boyfriend performing oral sex on me when he had a cold sore (we didn't know it could be transmitted that way)
I had a very severe primary OB, two somewhat mild OBs and just got over a severe OB 1.5 weeks ago.
Basically, there is no rhyme or reason with this virus. Even the same type can affect different areas of the body differently.
