Is it normal for coffee to give you acid reflux, but not tea? Is it the caffeine in the coffee that causes it or something else? I can't drink coffee at the moment, but seem ok with tea.

Yes, this is very common. There are some low acidity coffees available for peopl with GERD.

The thing with tea is that it can temporarily loosen your LES. When that happens it can allow the acid to come up if you are prone to it. That is why they put it on the restricted list.
I have seen a lot of people who don't seem to have much problem with it though.

Well, I usually drink about 3 cups of coffee a day and the rest of the day I drink water. But for the past 6 weeks, I've had acid and haven't been able to drink coffee. So I tried drinking about 2 cups of tea a day just for a warm drink and I seem ok with that. Would 2 cups a day do any harm? I guess I could live without it.
