I´m looking for a drug to attempt several months of suppressive therapy. My outbreaks are very manageable but an annoyance and have grown more frequent in the past year (i´ve had herpes for 2 and a half years).

Temporarily working in Mexico, I have found that Zovirax and Cicloferon are readily available without a prescription and that Cicloferon is quite cheap--about $45 for 35 400mg tablets. Zovirax is about $80. Does anyone know anything about Cicloferon?

I am also looking for OOO, OLE and Lysine but am not sure how easy it will be to find here.

I hope everyone has a great weekend...

I think I´ve just discovered an answer....it appears that Cicloferon is the Mexican brand of Acyclovir, equivalent to Zovirax in the U.S/Canada.

Does anyone have any experience taking about 400mg/day of a similar drug for an extended period of time?

I have been taking soviclor - 200 mg - 1 tablet a day as a supressive therapy. It works great. about 20 bucks for 25 pills. I have used the cicloferon creme but it doesnt seem to work for me. The pills help me control herpes zoster (shingles) outbreaks on my back. I live 6 miles from the border of Mexico and I have to say "THANK GOD!" No doc over here wants to give me anything without running 1000 tests every month! I don't know if they just want my insurance money or are genuinely concerned LOL
