I have been having weird pains lately. It started out with a dull pain three inches to the left of my belly button which spread to my back. I had an ultra sound done, was fine. My lower back was really hurting, sometimes I could barely walk. Lately, my right foot has a tingling feeling (on and off) almost feels like when your foot falls asleep and starts waking up but not as bad. Finally, I have been getting little jolts of pain throughout my body, it almost feels like its in my bones.... kind of like little zaps of pain. I have gotten these in my back, parts of my leg, pains from my back down my leg, and also my ankle had such bad pain the other night I could hardly walk...then my ankle was fine in the morning. .
I have also been getting dizzy spells, even when I am just sitting and typing at the computer. I have been going through stress lately, and maybe these pains/symptoms are a trigger of that.
Does this sound like Fibro?

I don't know if I have Fibro yet, I won't find out until Oct 1st but I joined this board because I think I do and there is great support here with people that actually understand.
Among other symptoms, I get those jolts of pain that feels like it is in my bones like that too.... yesterday was really bad for me. I have also been going through a lot of stress and it very well could be a trigger point but I don't know for sure.

Hi k2626,
Could be fibro but something about it sounds familiar. My husband has nerve pain he developed after having a herniated disk removed. The symptoms sound a lot like what he gets. It sounds like fibro too except that the first question that comes to my mind is "why is the pain only from the back down?" Most of the people I have talked to and read post from seem to have pain that is all over with some areas being worse than others. You really need to get it checked, especially if you have had a car accident, fall, or such. How you get your answers and can do something about the pain.:D

I have fibro, and the most important thing I can say about my experience with fibro, is my body feels like 1 big bruise to touch, if one of my boys accidently jumps on me, I scream in pain, and it hurts like ****. The other thing is when I have fibro flare ups, my arms and legs ache and throb, so badly, I just curl up in a ball, and put heat all over me. They sometimes have reasons for coming on like weather, stress, lack of sleep, and over-doing it like cleaning or exercising or no reason at all and come out of the blue. I also have the sharp pain that shoots through my legs, I cannot stand on my feet for too long, like longer than 1 hour is too much, or they ache, and burn. I am in pain everyday, and it is unprectable. Like yesterday, my boys, 2 and 5, and I were grocery shopping, and I was walking down the freezer isle, and my temporal tendonits flared up so badly, the pain seared through my left eyeball, and I instantly put my fingers over my eye to stop the pain. I grabbed for my Rx bottle, and took a valium, and vicoprofen. The boys and I left asap, drove 3 minutes home and I went to lay down with an ice pack on my face, and took a nap. I can no longer drive distances because of the unpredictability of pain.
I have other illnesses that add to the pain, like severe tmjd, temporal tendonitis, pmdd, migraines, myofascial pain syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, osteoarthritis of the left jaw, and tendonitis of the left wrist, and of course anxiety with some depression mixed in too.
I hope you both find relief soon, and can get in to see a doctor before October. Your symptoms can get worse very quickly. My battle with chronic everyday pain only started in September 2007, and it went from what I thought were migraines that got worse, to a full tmj flare up, to finding out I had much more than tmj, then the pain went in my neck. shoulder, hands, feet, muscles, bones, and joints. I am 31, and I stay at home with our 2 and 5 year old. I have applied for disability because my being sick has taken a financial toll on our family, and to be honest, now that our boys are a litle older, my husband needs my help supporting our family, and I can not do it.
I guess, my long winded story, suggests that you get help asap. Do not wait until this fall, get in next week, and if you do have fibro, and it does affect your working, then apply for disabillty as soon as it does. I wish I would have applied last October when my symptoms started affecting my everyday life, and my daily chores.
Also, one more thing, do you have 11 out of the 18 tender spots on your body? I did the test 50 times on myself and then also on anybody close to me, too. They did not have the pain on touch like I did, then I knew there was something wrong, it was not just that I had gained some weight, or my being under extreme stress from my marriage (I am sure it did not help) and the extra release of cortisol, it was fibro, which I am 100% sure my mom had, but unfortunately she died of coronary artery disease at 46, when I was 23. She had migraines, bad pms, and ached all over.
Good luck to you all, and take care of yourselves. This is a wonderful place to talk and ask questions.

Thank you for your repsonses. At first I thought maybe it was something in my back but then the pain started moving to other spots. The odd thing is when I get pain in my ankle, foot or the middle of my leg. It almost feels like its my bones or some sort of nerve pain. I get "ice pick" headaches sometimes and it feels like that, but in other parts of my body. My right foot can be tingly at times and I have been very tired, though that can be stress.
The dizzy spells are odd too...
I go to my doc again on Thurs. What tests can they do to determine if this is fibro?

K2626,
How ya doing? You asked about test. This is one of my pet peeves:mad: so hang on: They don't do test to find fibro, they do test to rule out everything else. If you have the tender points and they have ruled out everything else ( from bone cancer to lupus to RA, etc.....) that's when they say you have fibro. It's a " we know you have something wrong with your muscles and supporting tendons and ligaments but we haven't the slightest idea what or why :confused:but this is what we call it, want some pills?" kind of illness.
Just tell them what is going on and get them to check you head to toe and don't let them tell you it's all in you're head 'cause it isn't!
Hope you get answers soon. Take care.

Thanks for your response. I am paranoid I have bone cancer! The pain FEELS like its in my bones and jumps around my body. This body pain just started over the past week and I am in a lot of stress due to my dads diagnosis w pc cancer. So maybe its stress causing some of the pain...but some of it no as I have had the other symptoms awhile

I had the same fear when mine started. It felt like the pain was coming from my bones (still does a lot of the time) and I had a doctor scare me to death by flatly stating that he thought that I had it (I had a high white count at the time due to a series of infections including broncitis). My general prac. told me that the test for that was neg. and that fibro often feels that way (according to her) because the muscles, tendons, and ligaments are wrapped around the bone and that the infamous points they look for are on those areas where it feels like bone. Don't know about that answer but the blood test is simple enough that your regular doctor can order it. Get some peace of mind and have him/her order it.
Try not to worry (says the world record holder:D)

Thanks Donna. I am trying not to worry. I dont dare research bone cancer symptoms or I will go over the top in worry I am sure!
Did your FM come on all of a sudden? My pains just came out of the blue. This morning, I could barely walk due to my right ankle and tail bone hurting.
Is it weird that the pain goes to one area for less then an hr then goes away and/or moves to another area?
Can they tell if one has bone cancer through blood tests?
Thanks again....

Will to answer those questions for me it would be, yes, practically over night. I woke up feeling like I had the flu. All sore and tired. The muscles just wouldn't stop being sore after a while. Of course I have just had broncitis and thought it was that but it wasn't. My son and I (he has fibro too ) jokingly call whatever is hurting our muscle of the day only it might not stay all day. It is very common for me to hurt in my shoulders when I get up and then have my arms or legs be killing me by bedtime. It's random. About the bone cancer, yes they do a blood test for that, they just have to tell the lab what to look for. I hope that has helped. Gotta go to the doctor, been really sick for 2 day, think I might have food poisoning on top of everything else.
Wishing you health,
Donna

This is what makes all this so very weird and hard for family to understand... At first I thought I was going flipping nuts because of it until I found out about fibro. Now I don't feel so alone. It is great reading these boards and seeing that so many others are experiencing the same things and there is no way that many people have the same mental problem.. LOL

My first instinct is that you probably need to have a CT or MRI of your brain done, and maybe your spine too. Definitely let your doctor know what's happening, particularly since you're having dizzy spells and numbness/tingling.
Some fibro patients do have pain like that, but we usually have a host of other symptoms too.

I had an CT done for headaches last yr and all checked out. My doctor today seemed puzzled why I am having these pains and wants me to have blood work done for lupus and RA. She does not seem too concerned and was hinting it could be stress....I just found out my dad is dying of pc cancer and so I think she may feel that these are stress pains which upsets me even more......
