Hello,
I am not sure if I have fibro. or not, but I have felt like a train wreck the past year. Had several tests, nothing shows. I feel horribly exhausted all the time, aches and pains, neck is so sore i cannot even turn my head, legs are exhausted and tired all the time, I get charlie horses sometimes that hurt so bad, lots of other crazy symptoms, mostly just always feel like I am not well. Can someone give me some insight on my symptoms. The worst is my legs always feel tired. Does anyone else have this symptom with their FIBRO? Thanks!!!

I am a newbie too and I also don't know for sure if I have Fibro yet. Due to lack of insurance and funds, I won't know anything until at least Oct 1st as that is when I am scheduled to see a neurologist at the "cheap" hospital. But my legs (and arms) also feel tired all the time after very little exertion. You might ask you doctor to check for Fibro.

hi girls, and welcome to the board. you will find all friendly and helpful people on here. first off you really need to get diagnosed to be helped. the best doctor to get a dx from is a rheumatologist. he will send you to any other kind of doctor you may need to help dx you. there will be alot of doctor visits and alot of testing before any dx.

hope this helps...take care, bevann

Hey,
I get those symptoms and more but they are just that, symptoms. bevann26 is right, you really have to get all the test done until they find the cause or, in the case of fibro, run out of test. Many illnesses share symptoms so don't assume anything.

In the meantime, hang in there and hang around here. We will be glad to hear you out. Even if you end up not having fibro an answer always comes after asking questions. NOBODY knows that better than us.

Take Care.
Donna

I have Fibro and one of my friends has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I'm pretty sure that the rule of thumb is that if the fatigue is more bothersome than pain, then you might be suffering from Chronic Fatigue. The two are very similar. You definitely should see a rheumatologist and get blood work done to rule out other things first. The Mayo Clinic website is a good place to find lots of information on fms and cfs too. Do your own research. It's better to be an informed patient...everyone on this board has learned that lesson at one time or another I'm sure. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome to the board ashley and moonlady. You have already had some great advice, getting diagnosed is the first step and then working with your doc and of course being well informed is a very important part of living with fibro. I want to add to be sure to have your thyroid tested and don't just take the docs word for it that it is in range. Do some research, spend a little time on the thyroid board and get to know what you should look for on your thyroid blood test. Then ask for your test results, always get copies and keep records. I always give this advice because I was not able to get my fibro under control until I got my thyroid under control. It is very hard to determine how much fatigue and pain is from hypothyroid issues and what is fibro until you get the thyroid under control.

Funny you should mention thyroid as I was just thinking about that earlier, I had blood test done by my regular doctor a year ago and she said it was fine but I never got a copy of the test, I may ask her for it and check it out... thanks!

I just found out a cousin on my mom's side has problems with her thyroid and also my mom does to but it is thought the only reason she does is because of the meds she takes because she is bipolar but I was thinking it very well may be hereditary if that type of thing is genetic... I don't know.

The muslce fatigue was the beginning of whatever is ailing me, then a fews months afterwards the weird pains, bone pains, and a few other symptoms of Fibro started up a and now it seems as days pass by there is something new that hurts or aches in a different way than anything has hurt or ached before. Did that make sense? I hope so because I am too tired to reread it.. LOL...

Ladies, you might want to check out the symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency. I have had "tired" and taunt or spasming muscles for several years, osteoporosis, depression, joint pain. Finally, I went to a new doctor who really listened to me a couple months ago and found a severe Vitamin D deficiency. She put me on an 8 week regimen of mega-doses, and I have noticed my muscles don't hurt nearly as much and my mood has improved. When I read the symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency, I had every one of them. Why it took so many years to be caught is a mystery to me. Magnesium also helps with the muscle spasms.

Hi Moonlady. I too wonder if I have this. I have been tired a lot the past months and have been getting dizzy spells. Most recenty I have been having major bone pain that moves throughout my body. Somtimes, I get electrical shock like feelings in my body also a vibrating feeling and my right foot gets tingly. I am paranoid I have bone cancer-totally paranoid,. I am going through a lot of stress as my dad was just dx with termincal pc cancer....so maybe stress has brought this on for me.

What are your other symptoms aside from being tired?

I go to the doc tomorrow.....

I'm pretty sure that the rule of thumb is that if the fatigue is more bothersome than pain, then you might be suffering from Chronic Fatigue. The two are very similar.

These two often go hand-in-hand as well, which makes an accurate diagnosis even trickier than usual. There are lots and lots of people who have both. And it's not at all uncommon to start out with one of them and then develop the other.
