I'm not sure I understand your question. HPV IS a sexually transmitted disease; are you talked about being connected other OTHER diseases?

Of course, HPV causes other things (like plantars warts on your feet) but there are hundreds of strains that can be passed through sexual contact.

There are many that can be passed through sexual activity.. I suppose if you were to research the numbers of strains that can cause cervical cancer and the number of strains that cause genital warts, you'd have a minimum number of strains connected to sexual transmission.
And actually, at bare minimum you know there are at LEAST two because one does cause warts and one can lead to dysplasia. (but there are more)
Furthermore, if you have one strain of HPV it is likely that you have more than one strain...
My doctor also suggested that women that test positive for hpv have a higher chance of having a different type of STD, but that wasn't my case and I don't know how true that statement is.. HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted viruses & I don't think it really has a "partner in crime" type of disease that comes with it typically other than just another strain of itself.

My oncologist said I most likely got HPV from someone unknown it can be passesed as easilly as brushing up against someone. Some strands are sexually transmitted but not all, not most. I am just trying to gain some more information on the number of strands and how many are passed via sex. Is that clearer?

How did you find out you had it? just a HPV test? I don't even know how they perform that test because I had warts.. which was kind of obvious that I had been infected and made it more obvious how I recieved it.

I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and treated fully before asking how it was contracted. That is how I found out.
Oh and I guess I need to fix my profile because I am not male...

;) it would be rather difficult for a man to have cervical cancer now, wouldn't it?
Anyway.. sorry to hear about that, but glad you've been treated!!
Like I said, maybe a doctor could tell you the exact number of strains you could have gotten via sex, and you could probably find that information somewhere online too..
Also, it would be extremely difficult to track down WHO you gave it too since men don't have symptoms other than warts.. And, to my understanding, it isn't too often that a woman would actually get cervical cancer from it unless it had gone untreated (not saying this is for ALL cases) for a significant time..
I think you'd be better off researching this information or asking a professional.. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) there are at least three?, transmitted sexually, that can result in cervical cancer.. I wouldn't call myself the most reliable source however and you are more than welcome to double check that statement.. reading info about gardisil (the only vaccine for cervical cancer by hpv) would probably help you narrow down your search to finding which exact strain you could have possibly have had that led you to your condition..

There are more than four (I believe there are hundreds though); the vaccing protects you from 4 strains (2 cancer-causing and 2 wart-causing) but there are many others.

It's hard to know how many strains you have or who gave it to you or any of that sort of information (HPV is a little evil that way); the best thing you can do is keep up with your exams.
