I've been wavering between 167-172 since I last posted. I am starting to get a handle on the situation. I'm working on having a month's menus planned with calories calulated etc. I resist this so much because I like to eat what I feel like eating but I often end up eating just a few more calories than I need.
Just went to my former Endo whose nurse commented that I had gained 11 lbs since I had last been there (2yrs ago). She said that so many patients on Synthyroid have a problem with gaining weight even though they are following a similar diet/exercise routine that they did before thyroid problems. My other endo said that being on a beta blocker carries a risk of weight gain as well.
He wanted me to stick with a 1500 cal diet but with the obstacles in my way, it just doesn't cut it. That 300 cal difference between 1500 & 1200 just seems to make the difference between losing & gaining for me. I just can't jump up to 170 or more.
I'm making progress with my recipe book of my favorite dishes so that I know exactly how many calories are in a serving. Actually this is a good time because fruits & vegetables are so tasty. Just had some delicious peaches & grapes today. I still haven't gotten my swiss chard planted. My husband started tomatoes in the garden.
Luckily, I can exercise in my pool etc, because the humidity limits my time outside.
I'm giving myself a vacation from taking my b/p so that hopefully I can decrease my automatic b/p surge & give my arms a break. My strong Beta Blocker fatigue assures me that my drugs are working.
Anyone else trying to lose weight? Watching the Today Show really motivates me when I see people who have lost so much weight. Fam
