My 5 1/2 yo DS has always been in the 90th% for weight and 50-75% for height until he turned 3 yo. Since then he's dropped his weight to 25th% and the height is less than 10percentile. Is this normal to be in the high percentile and drop so much as a child? He is now 41inches and he's 5yo. I'm 5'3" and DH is 6' tall. My son isn't a big eatter but eats healthy. He doesnt' like to drink milk (or soy) very much so I try to give him calcium fortified juices (ped.'s recommondation). The dr. didnt' seem concerned with his height except to take in more calcium.

Any parents out there who had the same situtaion and the child had a growth spurt and caught up with the rest?

My dr always checks my kids height and weight and charts it and then looks back at all of the previous ones to be sure the height and weight are staying consistent. I know that my youngest daughter was 90% weight and 10% height when born and is now 50% weight and 25% height the dr said it was fine she was growing appropriately. I would listen to your dr and maybe in a couple of months take him back just for a re-check.

My doctor told me last week that at 2-3 years age, their height starts to taper off a bit. My son is 90% for height right now so we shall see what happens.

My daughter was 90th+ percentile on height/weight until she hit 3. She's been closer to the 10-20th on both since then (now 14). My family tends to have late growth spurts, so I predict her to end up average height/weight.
