HEy guys,

so i'm a little mad right now that i wasnt told by my Dr i had this defect.I sent for my records to take with me to my appt with a swallowing specialist in Winston Salem. So i was viewing over my Barium Swallow results & saw this...This is how it reads on the report " On the lateral imaging in the upper esophagus, there is a small posterior defect on the barium column suggesting a mild impression of the cricopharyngeus muscle.SO why did noone tell me of this?ALos,what does this mean.Again,i have had a feeling of something in my throat for over 6 months/ which has developed into swallowing problems. All this time i thought everything had been negative & all related to acid reflux. Does anyone know what this means & if this can be causing this feeling in my throat & can it be fixed?I'm so worried now that i read this & my appt is not untill July 7th.Can someone answer this please. If its bad dont respond!!! I just need some relief if there is anyone out there who knows or has this.SOmething postive would be great.God Bless all those who take the time to read this.LOL Lisa

What is the swallowing problem like?? I have that too. That is how my acid reflux started out about a month ago. It was like really swollen and thick in there. Lots of mucus. :( I finally got some prilosec and that was helping but now it's back again. Ugh! I hope it is because I have not watched my diet real well. When I watched what I was eating it really seemed to help. I feel like I just can't clear my throat of the mucus and it feels tight. DOes that sound like yours??

It feels like when i swallow its going over a big lump, but theres not one there.ITs weird when i wake up in the morning it almost feels as if its gone & then BAM its there again.I will look in the mirror & see lots of mucus in the back.It does feel really tight & like a knot down in my throat.I have taken all kinds of meds & nothing has helped me yet.I think my mind is so caught up on thinking about it,i wonder if i'm making myself think i cant swallow.I dont know cause the food really feels like its getting stuck there.

Ya that sounds like mine. Last night for one second it's like I forgot how to swallow and I thought I would choke. I had to say to myself,,,swallow. Good grief. It is the strangest thing. I never had this in my life till about a month ago. I hope this is not going to be an ongoing problem for me. UGH! You hang in there too! Keep us posted!
