I am going to have my big toe fused soon, have another post if u want to read why. The pod said he would use a external fixator instead of a cast and that seems a little strange from what I have read on the net. Anyone have a external fixator after toe fusion.

External fixation is sometimes helpful, but the risk of infection is very high, that's the short answer.
