I have been sick for going on 3 weeks. I am on my second antibiotic. As if I didn't feel bad enough, these stupid antibiotics make me feel worse!

I was on a Zpac first and I was sick as a dog. Nauseous for 5 days(felt like I was pregnant again). Now I am on Levaquin and I feel like my skin is burning off. All of this suffering and I probably have a virus! That would be my luck!

Anyone else have problems with them?

Yes, I was given zpack for a sinus infection and got sick from it. Then they gave me a stronger antibiotic and I was sick as a dog while taking it. I was in bed, 5 day...stomach pain, headache, chest pain etc. It was terrible. I got better when I stopped taking them but it took a good 2 weeks.

They eventually told me it wasn't an infection after all, and that it was just allergies. Yeah, my skin felt itchy crawly all over and burning sensation in arms and legs.

My sister broke out in an all-over rash from Bactrim. My dad couldn't help it when he got home and he busted out laughing. She did look pretty funny...

I've never reacted to anything.

Hi - I am very allergic to most antibiotics and just have bad reactions to meds in general. I think this is very common with FM. I am allergic to Penicillan, Levaquin, Ceclor, Cefin, and the last 2 times I had to take ZPac I thought I was going to have a heart attack - horrible anxiety, heart pounding and swollen feet and hands. Never tired Bactrim but my allergy doc said that is one of the most allergic meds out there and unless we were desperate, he did not even want me tryng it. (sulpha drug)... Thankfully, I am not sick that often and need them. I've had sinus infections that last 6-7 weeks and I just do tons of saline; put my head under towels under steaming bowls of water, and rest and they do eventually go away for me. I suffer a long time, but refuse to take an antibiotic unless I absolutely have to. MaryAnn

hi everyone,i only take anti-biotics when absolutely necessary(like after surgery or something)they make me sicker than the ailment itself, personally iam scared to death of throwing up,it makes my spine and neck issues worse so usually end up in e.r..sorry to be gross.marywoo

yes, i'm realizing that i am having a major problem with antibiotics. a few yrs ago i had a problem and was put on flagyl which gave me such a severe stomach ache and was taken off it. so a month or so ago i had a bladder infection, she wanted to put me on flagyl and i said no. so they put me on cipro. was on it for 2 weeks, it in turn gave me chest pains that lasted a long time. but now, i think i also have antibiotic associated-colitis from it. i'm not sure, haven't gotten test results back yet, but i've been so sick with gastro problems. looking into it online has me thinking it's from the cipro. The funny thing, they give you flagyl to get rid of it.
