Hi everyone, I recently injured myself on 6/1/08 by wrestling with a friend of mine. We were just horsing around (stupid) and when we both fell he stepped on my foot when he was falling on top of me. Well I broke the second and fouth met, and dislocated the first three. I go for surgery next week on the 27th. My question has anyone had any experience with the claw plate? The Dr is using 4 of them on me. two on the first bone, and one on the second and third bones to fuse the joint together. Recovery Time? Any re-occuring pains or suggestions? Any Help would greatly be appreciated. I'm 29 yrs old and have never broken a bone in my life, so this is a new experience for me, goodbye summer! ;-( Thanks everyone!

I found this, it give a great description of the plate, and the procedure:

Okay, full recovery is going to take a very long time, maybe a whole year, and it's important to follow the doctor's instructions strictly. You'll have to spend the first month after surgery with your foot propped above your head almost all the time (night and day). The best news is that your injury was diagnosed correctly right off, so you have much better odds than otherwise.

Good luck!
