View Full Version : I think I burst a cyst

I can't recall if I posted my previous topic in the Acne forum or this one, but jut as a tiny recap:

I have had this odd little lump in my under arm area for a couple of months, and I figured it was a zit or an ingrown hair of some sort. Someone suggested it was a cyst. It got bigger since I made that topic.

Since posting that previous thread, I have tried lancing this lump, with no success. It didn't hurt, and it didn't drain, but I felt nauseous sticking myself with a needle, even if I didn't actually feel it. Recently, I decided to give it a good hard squeeze and see if it was actually a zit or not. I applied a lot of pressure directly under it (not right on it because it hurt when I did so), and after a few seconds of squeezing, I heard a very audible 'pop'. The lump, while still there, is now much smaller.

I'm pretty sure whatever that thing is/was, it has been burst. Is it bad that I did this? I don't want to go running screaming to my doctor if it's nothing. The area it was in only hurts a teeny tiny bit when I press on it. I robably shouldn't have popped that thing, but I admit I am an obsessive zit-popper and it's been bugging me since it developed.
