Hi!
I was diagnosed with hpv high risk hpv16 with CIN1-2, LGSIL...

I had a colposcopy and a LASER-carbon dioxide, like cryo but the oppoosite- two months ago...Now i am having my first pap test after the laser , on Tuesday..I am so scared...

I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years and i did not hava a pap during these years (my mistake, i know)..We did not use protections.. After the laser we use condoms all the time, and i try to boost my immune system with vitamins and folic acid..I also cut smoking..

My questions are:

1. I am so afraid that i might have been reinfected..Could that be the case?

2. I also feel my cervix a bit too sensitive after the treatment (for example once i had 2-3 spots of pink fluid after sexual contact), although my doctor saw me 2 times after the laser and said everything was going fine..But he saw me with "naked eye", without a microscope, you know. Could the spots be cancerous???Or am i overreacting?

3. What do you think might be the result of the test???What is usually the case? Should i expect a totally clean test or CIN1-2 again??? Could it be even worse (like CIN3)?? I am extremely pessimistic about it..

I wanted to marry with my boyfriend and have children, but now i feel that my whole life has changed, i pass everyday with stress and misery and want to cry all the time..

Please ladies, i need your support, only you that have been through this can really understand me...

Christine

I was to diagnosed with High Risk HPV in 2006 so far ive only had 2 abnormal paps an 1 Colposcopy since my second pap wasn't as bad as my first my Doc. decided not to do a second Colposcopy. Now i was lucky an didn't have to have any Biopsies or surguries like you did so i donno to much about that area but ill try an answer your questions as best i can.

1.) I am so afraid that i might have been reinfected..Could that be the case?
(I donno if you know this but High Risk HPV is an STD an there is no cure for this you will have it for life. It will go thru periods of time where the virus is active in your system an inactive until the virus becomes inactive in your system you will keep having abnormal paps an possibly Colposcopys an more. The virus attacks your cervix an makes the cells abnormal the longer the virus is active the more damage it does but since you just had all that done you probably wont have to go thru all that again for awhile maybe a Colposcopy if you have another normal pap maybe you'll get lucky an the virus is inactive now.)

2.) I also feel my cervix a bit too sensitive after the treatment (for example once i had 2-3 spots of pink fluid after sexual contact), although my doctor saw me 2 times after the laser and said everything was going fine..But he saw me with "naked eye", without a microscope, you know. (If the spots were cancerous they would've found them an took them off during the thing you went thru its normal to be sore an it may take a lil while for you to fully heal.)

3.) What do you think might be the result of the test???What is usually the case? Should i expect a totally clean test or CIN1-2 again??? Could it be even worse (like CIN3)?? I am extremely pessimistic about it..
(Ive never had those procedures done to me ive just had a Colposcopy so im not sure on this one sorry.)

Hi Christine, I'm sorry I just saw your post today. I know you are anxious about your first pap after treatment, but BDL84's reply is correct about HPV. HPV isn't something that can be "reinfected." Rather is it a "once you have it you'll always have it." The good news is that many women only have to have one of the treatments like yours (or cryo or LEEP) to treat their HPV. There is a chance you could have future atypical growth. This is why it is ESSENTIAL to always get your follow up exams and to ALWAYS let your doctor(s) know you are positive for high risk HPV.

I really think we are blessed to live in a day in age when doctors can test for HPV before we ever see evidence of it in the body. I also feel blessed that we live in a time when even microscopic lesions can be seen and treated without having to rip out all of the plumbing, thus maintaining fertility - at least for a time (in cases of more agressive atypical cells).

I was diagnosed with high risk HPV in January. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer Ia1 (early stage) in April. Last week I had my hysterectomy as my only needed form of treatment for the cancer. I will not need any chemo or any radiation. I feel blessed the cancer was caught so early. I've NEVER had a bad pap and I've ALWAYS gone for my annual visits. (I am 44 and childless by choice and by chance).

Anyway, I say all of this because I think you are lucky that your doctor has found the atypical cells so early. Be sure you let him/her know that you wish to maintain fertility. That will help guide medical options.

This is getting long. I just want to say I wish you the best of all things when you go to your appointment. I wish you calm nerves. I pray your doctor has clear eyes, sure hands, and helps you maintain your health. (((hugs)))

Thank You Very Very Much!
I Got My Results Today And Thank God Everything Was Fine!!
I Feel Like I Am Reborn!!
Of Course, As A Pesimist, I Feel Already Stressed About The Next Exam, Because I Read On The Net That Sometimes, A Laser May Just "hide" The Dysplasia Rather Than Treat It..is It True??is There A Possibility Of Getting A Dysplasia Again After 3-4 Months??
Hopefully Not..
P.c. I Am Such A Pesimist, I Always Think About The Worst Scenario And Then Get Scared Of The Possibility To Happen.. Sorry If I Am Getting Tiring,i Need Psychological Support..

The internet exaggerates E V E R Y T H I N G!
but it is better to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.. you were just preparing yourself for the worst outcome.. and now don't you feel better that it wasn't bad after all? You'll just get that feeling again next time ;)
I'm a fellow pessimist.. there has to be a way not to dwell on this thing, right?
