Can anyone recommend a podiatrist in the Vancouver, BC area? I am moving there and looking for a new podiatrist. I have ongoing bunion problems so looking for someone good in that area.

Thank you!

Hi ke2 - I too am looking for a good podiatrist in the Vancouver area. I have a bunion on my left foot that needs surgery. I have been to one podiatrist in Burnaby but was not impressed with him/the office - just didn't get a good feeling. If you hear of someone with a good track record - please let me know. I am so scared to pick the wrong doctor - I don't know anyone with a similar problem in person so it is hard to find a good doc through word of mouth.

I don't know if you can go across the border but Sigvard T. Hansen, Jr., M.D. at the U of WA in Seattle is a top foot surgeon in the US. If not, I would be looking for a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon instead of a podiatrist.

Abby :)

I used to live in Surrey and I miss all the great farmer's market - fresh produce!

Go see Dr. Bert Mollica. He is the best for feet, hands-down and better than the orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Mollica can manage you with conservative treatment, as well. You won't be sorry.

I'm a student Podiatrist who is originally from Vancouver and I am familiar with many podiatrists in the region. In response to the post mentioning Dr. Hansen - he is an excellent foot and ankle surgeon. However, going to the US and getting a surgery done by him will not only cost more but also be more complicated when he takes care of you after the surgery. After all, having a great surgery is one thing, but getting good post surgical care in the months to follow is equally as important. As bias as it may sound, I strongly feel that a podiatrist's care may be more effective in this regard.

Some good surgical podiatrists in Vancouver are: Dr. Howard Green, Dr. Bert Mollica, Dr. Alan Boroditsky, and Dr. Tim Kalla. Most of them have worked for years in Vancouver and have done hundreds if not thousands of bunion surgeries. Good luck with your search.
