drink 3 glasses of water, and jump up and down (it can work!)

otherwise, buy some Prilosec OTC and take one tab every day, and also some Gaviscon, take 2 whenever you get symptoms

You are kidding, right? :D
What can jumping up and down possibly accomplish (other than making me short of breath and wanting to pee???) I wish it were that simple!

I think that Gaviscon sounds a bit more practical. :)

The Gaviscon helps a lot. I also take 150mg Zantac in the morning and at night before I go to sleep. Also it helps to not eat anything for two hours before going to sleep. There are certain foods I avoid such as popcorn, chocolate, very spicy foods, and cucumbers. Take care Flower

There is a fairly new medication for acid reflux , it's called > Protonix.
I use this along with my Ranitidene , Reglin (for nausea.)
The Protonix helps alot and I highly recommend it for anyone with acid reflux:confused:

I heard that hiatal hernia is treated only if there are untolerable symptoms. I can't remember which ones. Surgery is usually considered only as a last resort. My impression is that most people just live with it. Some people (myself included) live with it for years, unaware they have it. I don't know which of my symptoms are from the hernia and which ones can be attributed to GERD. I guess it does not matter, because they are both here to stay. :(
What are the most common symptoms of hiatal hernia?

Amazingly enough, I have tried this and it does work to a degree. The weight of the water in the stomach, combined with the jumping, helps to pull the part of the stomach pushing up through the diaphram back into place. I know it sounds crazy, but it does seem to work. Hell, I would jump off the roof of my house if I thought it would help. Good luck!
