Hi Carol..I haven't a clue what happened to him and I miss the heck out of him also. He was full of knowledge and always a kind word for everyone.
I just read your post below, good grief gal, looks like we are about where we started from huh? :( I have to go tuesday and I know she is going to want blood tests and I will probably hear a sermon about taking meds. if the numbers are back up again.
Hubby just got tested a couple of months ago, and the TC went way down but the stinking Trigs. jumped up. Of course he has been on just about every drug out there and can't handle them so the cardiologist just told him to do his best with the diet and exercise, and he will recheck him in another 4 or 5 months. Like he told him, for the side effects he gets on the statins and the other stuff he tried, it just isn't worth the aggravation. It just seems to be a never ending battle.
I know others have improved with the diet and exercise but it just doesn't seem to be working in this house. Of course hubby is a terrible bread eater and has cut way back, but looks like he is going to have to cut back further, as the trigs. are his big downfall, naturally the diabetes doesn't help either. Gosh, isn't getting older just a BLAST? NOT!! :)
As far as your question about the statins, I think they are all just about the same, although I know Lipitor is the more aggressive one, but it don't do a heck of a lot for trigs. Hubby went to see his urologist last week and we got talking about cholesterol problems. Dr. said he has high cholesterol but his dr. wouldn't think of putting him on a statin, said the stuff has too many side effects. I was very surprised to hear him say that, as that is I think the first dr. who actually came right out and bluntly said something like that to us. Oh well, guess we will just take it one day at a time and hope for the best.
Hope things get squared away with you, and if you do go for a statin, make them put U on a low dose to see how it goes. Too many times the drs. want immediate results and over prescribe in my opinion. Take care, keep me posted and I'll let ya know what the tuesday visit was like when I get back. JJ

Dh and I had dinner with them night before last. They are doing great! Jenny is now off all prescription meds (except insulin) and on a LC WOE and taking BHT. As some of you may know she was given 3 months to live 2 years ago and was wheel chair bound. You should just see her yard...she mows it with a push lawn mower and the yard is large!! She sports her healthy body and nice muscles beautifully!
Oldguy is working full time and is so busy researching all the time that he doesn't have time for much of anything else. He looks and feels great!
I can promise you that if he was here, he would be telling you of the BHT and a very low carb way of eating and what it has done for Jenny! Singing the very same thing that Arkie6 (Alan) keeps trying to tell everyone. And that I try to say (and a few others)
in all my postings here.
Once again, I got help from Arikie6 and Oldguy! I researched and just did it! At the moment, my DH is out on a tractor mowing a huge field, one year ago he was totally unable to do this due to "non existant side effects" from Lipitor and Zocor!
It isn't the cholesterol numbers, it's if they are oxidized or not! Lowering them doesn't help! Trigs need to be lowered and you do that by no and low carbs!! That means no bread, grains, potatoes, rice, sugar, starches..period. Even whole grains are out.
You will never know until you try it. It's up to you if you want to get off this low fat diet that brings on diabetes and cardiovascular disease and start getting healthy. It takes self control and education... that's all!
A better way of life awaits you! :D :D :D
You CAN do it!
This is what Oldguy would tell you!!! I promise you! I get to talk to him face to face. Jenny is my best friend! I adore her!! Trust me... this man is brilliant!!! His motivation for learning all this is the great love he has for his lovely wife. My heart rejoices every time I think of her or see her and the miracle that she is in her radiant health!
My (and I'm sure Oldguy's) wish is that some of you try this for your health and just see for yourselves.
Arkie6 tries so hard to tell you too. If nothing you are doing is helping that much it would appear that you have nothing to lose by trying this. Read some of the books that Arkie6 has posted so many times.
The very best of health to all of you. :D
And as Oldguy would sign off...."Blessings"
