Has anyone ever felt like food gets stuck when swallowing. Like it takes a little longer to go down. Not all foods but mainly bread? I had GERD for 8 years 25 years old and I'm scared and have convinced myself that I have cancer. I actually had this problem for about a year and a half now. If this problem has gone on for so long and nothing has progressed could there be a chance that this is just a stricture? I have also not lost any weight. I'm still scared though.

Are you on any medication for acid reflux? Are you seeing a GI for this?If this is happening with just bread, chances are it's because bread is rather dry. I would try not to worry about this, because the stress and worry would make your reflux worst, try to see a doctor to put your mind at ease.

Oh I know, I was worried the whole week and I had this funny feeling in my chest when I get anxiety and it made my acid reflux worse. I really wish my parents and doctors would of giving me medication for this. The played around with my life for almost 8 years now and I'm really scared. I think there might be a problem with diabetes too since my mouth and throat get very dry. It might be a reason that I am having this problem. If I eat something and chase it down with water then it goes down like silk. The thing is, I don't have health insurance and its making me go crazy. My work had an open enrollment around April and I missed it. So I am hoping they have another one later this year. I can wait for that, but if not then I'm going to get health insurance on my own. I can't wait another year. I want an endoscopy down, dialtion of my esophagus and medication. I am so scared that I have cancer that barrett's would even put my mind at ease. I tried to go out with friends last night, talk to guys and that didn't even help. I want to be a normal 25 year old girl!!

Try not to worry. I have had this problem for months now and I have a fear of cancer, so much so Im waiting to go on a CBT course. Its a genuine fear but I do try to think well hopefully because ive had these symptoms for so long it wont/cant be anything sinister. I am on Lomaprezole. I have been on Nexium and Omeprazole in the past. It started on New Years Eve just gone when I felt as though I had a popcorn kernal stuck in my throat and I ended up with bad Throat strep. Since then ive had this reflux problem.
We all seem to have the same symtoms on this board so hang in there ;);)
