I am a gay man. About a week ago I had a sexual encounter with another man. We had protected anal sex and unprotected oral sex without ejactulation. The next day I started feeling bloated and full of gas then I had loose stool. A day later I noticed that it burned when I urinated. I went to the doctor two days after the encounter and he did an instant urine test to see if I had UTI. The results came back negative. The symptoms had also seemed to dissappear when I saw the doctor. Three days later It started burning again when I urinated and I felt a little bloated. I also noticed a new symptom which was a milky white discharge. I did a search online and it seems to point to an STD but if I had protected sex I dont see how its possible. My question is this, If the doctor had done a standard quick urine test and found no bacteria or abnormailties that would indicate I had something, does that rule out STDs, gonorrhea or clamidia? During that encounter it was also the first time I had been anally penetrated and the person was a little rough. Could that have caused my symptoms?

Hi there.

I was thinking it could possibly be male thrush, it can appear as sore, red, itchy penis and discharge and it can be passed on oraly. It is a yeast infection and can be treated quite easily. Gonorrhoea can also be passed on orally. Apparently there is a lot of pain when urinating which can be quite severe - and discharge. Your partner could have something like this and not even know it as some people don't show any symptoms.

Even if a man thinks he hasn't ejaculated there are small jets which leak out during sexual activity and any bacterial STD can be exchanged orally as well. Unless you are in a steady relationship with a person and KNOW they are clean of STDs it is always best to wear protection, even for oral sex.

The loose stools and gas could be a result of recent activity?!??

I am pretty sure the urine tests the doctors so don't check for bacterial STDs, i had a male friend who went through some pretty rough stuff with gonarreah and i know he had a lot more than a urine test! I think it would involved some sort of swab from your penis?

If they continue for more than a couple of days and are causing you concern i would go to the doctor for a full check up, checking for all STDs etc. STDs aren't very pleasant and can get worse the longer you leave it - so if you are concerned please don't sit and worry, get to the doctor!

Hope all turns out ok for you.

Thanks. But would a simple urine test indicate an infection even though it doesnt specifically check for gonoreah or other bacterial STDs? If there is no infection dected, no white blood cells, bacteria ect, would it rule out a bacterial std such as gonorreah?

sorry, just edited my previous post as i realised i missed this out!

Basically i think STDs don't show in urine tests. When a woman gets checked out we have to go through swabs taken from inside and for a man i would think the swabs would be taken from the penis or inside (ouch!). I think the urine tests usually just check for a urine or kidney infection.

Hope this helps!!

I did find out something interesting from a medical website:

[ DELETED ]

This would suggest that something would tip the doctor off if it were Chlamydia. I wonder if it would be the same for gonnoreah?

I will say this. My symptoms include a "bloating" gas feeling and I did have loose stool and kidney throbbing that occured the same time the burning did. Those dont seem to be consistant with gonorreah.

the thing is I had protected anal sex, although their was exterior contact with my penis near the anus briefly. I had unprotected oral sex performed on me.....My risk for gonorreah or clamydia would seem low unless there is a high risk of getting it receiving oral sex. I know its a higher risk with performing oral sex but even then the symptoms are oral symtoms. Genital Herpes would be the most likely std to get receiving oral sex. I cant explain the other symptoms which were loose stool, intesitinal cramping/gas/bloating and a dull throbbing near my kidneys. Maybe its a prostate thing. With prostate inflammation you can have burning, white discharge as well some of the other symptoms I mentioned. During that encounter I was anally penetrated (protected) for the first time and he was a little rough.

Well I went to the urologist this morning and told her what I did and what symptoms I have. She supects prostatitis and doesnt think I have gonorrhea or Chlamydia but she is runing a test anyways. meanwhile she gave me a shot and something for the urinary pain and I will be on antbotics for 3 weeks.

It scared the crap out of me when I went to the bathroom because my urine was green. I found that it was from the Urelle tablets my doctor gave me for uninary pain. It makes your urine and stool green.

All STD tests came back negative and I was diagnosed with acute prostatitis
