Good morning all.I have yet another question. I was approved on may 6th for S.S. and was told my file was in Batimore Maryland for processing.Does anyone have a clue how long it will be before I see any money or at least get a letter telling me about benefit amounts? It sure seems like it's been a long wait. I had my hearing in Jan. in Indiana. My Mom and Aunt lost everything they had in the floods a couple of weeks ago and they are staying with me now and everything is very stressfull right now. Any responders would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Donna

This is a time line of how things went for my husband's disability. I hope it helps, we live in Cincinnati Ohio.
He was approved on April 1st, we got our 1st SSI backpayment in May and our 1st SSI payment around the 1st of June. Now they say they have his SSDI ready to begin next month (1st check on the 3rd of July) and that we should see our backpay on SSDI soon (we will no longer recieve the SSI,because that is only based on need, and with the SSDI, we will not need that)
I hope this helps you, I would estimate you should recieve SSI this month, at some point. Have they took your bank info to recieve direct deposit yet? If they have check your account often. The SSI is a small amount each month (at least in our case) until you recieve your benefits from SSDI,which will be a larger, more significant amount. Good Luck! -Rachel:angel:

Thanks Rachel. I did give my info for direct deposit but, I am not eligable for the ssi, just the ss disability. My fiance moved in to help me and put me on his ins. from his work and he makes to much for me to qualify for ssi.I called today and they said it takes 6 to 8 weeks at the processing center. It has been there at least 6 weeks this week. Driving me crazy. Sure hope everyone else waiting hears something real soon.

With my income alone in our household my husband only got $191 a month in SSI. We got married last summer while he was waiting on his disability so I could add him on my policy at work as well. This entire process is absolutely terrible. It takes forever to get an answer, forever to get a positive answer, and then you have to wait some more to get your money. It seems so unfair to put people who are already dealing with health issues through something like this! I hope you recieve your money soon! Good luck!

If it is in the payment center, then it should should not be to long. Try calling the 800 #, they might be able to tell you if the payment center is backed up of not. When I had called, the rep told me that mines was about to sent out, and a few weeks later I had gotten my SSDI backpay.
I got my letter first, (which is uncommon) Most get the money then the letter.
My payment center in in Queens NY

The atty. told me today that once the Judge approves, it goes to Maryland where they decide how much you get and set it up. He said it could take 6 weeks to get rolling. All depends on the Judge and how fast he does it.
