I need to ask this question since I just started on Lexapro. I ran an interaction checker and saw that it can have a SEVERE reaction with the patch by causing a BIG increase in serotonin and possibly SEROTONIN SYNDROME. Has this been an issue for anyone else on this board? Have any of you been on these two together without any issues?

Hey Brian - good to hear from you - I have never heard that those two could cause serotonin syndrome - I will look around a little and see if I can find anything about fentanyl messing with your serotonin

I use both of them, and I haven't had any issues.

I ran one of those interaction checkers too, and every single one of my meds interacts with the other ones. I figure that my doctors and my pharmacist know all the meds I'm on, and if the interaction was serious enough, one of them would tell me.

Brian,

This is just something you're going to have to watch.

I remember at one time I was on the patch, celexa, ultram and imitrex. ALL of them had serotonin issues all by themselves, let alone in combination with one another. At one point my pharmacy didn't want to fill certain scripts because of the danger. When I went from the patch to methadone the potential got even worse. My problem was that I needed each one. Nothing ever happened.

Brian, I had a bad time with Lexapro and Chantix (drug to quit smoking) - my brain felt fried.

I think you should monitor it but not worry too much as your doctor would have picked up on this? A good friend of mine is on Lexapro and 50mcg patch without issue.

I also noted that you cannot (should not) take Lexapro and Imitrex.
Good luck
