For the past year or so, my husband has been having a hard time staying asleep.

I think is is somewhat depressed. He is sad and unhappy most all of the time, can't sleep, and can't seem to shut his thoughts off when trying to rest of relax.

He worries all the time about the current state of the economy, business, etc...

What can I do to help him? He says that he can work this out himself, but his was is taking so long.

I am a happy, ready to have have person. Our life is now boring for both of us.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sure sounds like depression and anxiety. Trouble staying asleep/ early morning awakenings are a very common symptom of depresion. His ruminating thoughts/worry sound like anxiety. Has he seen a doctor yet?

He sees his doctor every 3 months for blood work, but never mentions this problem because he doesn't want to be put on meds.

I am so worried about him and there seems to be nothing that I can do.

He sounds exactly like Me. I do not know how anyone over 35 can just fall right off to sleep in this world. The best thing for me is to avoid caffeine at night (chocolate, tea, coffee) and try a GNC Strawberry Melatonin pill. Sounds ridiculous but it is fantastic. My last suggestion is harder to swallow: Yoga.
Yoga is 5K years old for a reason. It is a Miracle how it relaxes you and changes your perception on things. Good Luck.
