Hi there. Ive had an itchy patch on the side of my right foot right at the bottom - just before the foot turns to a sole. Its not particularly big and dosn't look fiercly red and irritated, but it itches really badly and over the last few weeks i have found myself scratching at it with the sole of my other shoe far too much! I can often experience itchyness in between two of my middle toes, not as much as the patch on my foot, but between two of my middle toes (on the same foot) can be seen the evidence of itching.

For all i know this could be athletes foot. I always thought that athletes foot were small painfull marks though. I don't have a GP and havn't been to the doctors for 15 years. Im not special, just havn't had any serious reason to visit one for so long!

Thanks in advance for any repies :)

Sounds like a fungus or an allergic reaction to something...or a bug bite??

try an over the counter athletes foot treatment. If that doesn't help or makes it worse, go see the doctor.

I'm sure it could be many different ailments and a doctor could tell you the most accurately and quickly. That being said, it sounds like symptoms I have had with ezcema, which is a chronic condition but treatable. A doctor could tell you for sure. When I first had symptoms the doctor tested for ringworm. When he said I didn't have it I said "Oh good", and he said "It would be better if you did have it because that is curable and ezcema isn't". Look on the web for symptoms. Good luck.

Jane,
Isn't that funny how even the mention of ringworm makes people uneasy. Especially when you consider it's not any kind of worm or parasite at all but a skin fungus (I guess that's not much better sounding is it?).:)

I was horrified until the dematologist explained what ringworm was. Who names these ailments anyway?:D
