Is it possible to walk into a lab or some other health facility and ask for a cholesterol test without the approval of a Dr.?

There are mobile health screenings that come around (usually to churches) and they offer many tests for a nominal fee and send the results directly to you with no doc involved. My mom gets them in Florida and I get them in Michigan. They are given by the United Health Organization (perhaps they have a website). They can also do screening for glaucoma, blood pressure, hearing, lung function, bone density, complete blood counts, H-pylori, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.
