I've been like this since i was 18, ever since i took a job in a bar, it just messed upmy sleep. i never get to sleep before 4 and i sleep till at least 1..
i've tried getting up and its hopeless. i also fall asleep durng the day.. i'm just sick of it now...

They have a term for us night owls.....it's called DSPS (delayed sleep phase syndrome). I simply call us night owls and do not think we have a "disorder". Being a night owl can be frustrating since the world operates on days. I pretty much like it though. It is almost 230 am right now and the neighborhood is quiet, the house is quiet. I have Alton Brown on tv showing how to cook chicken or something. I probably won't get tired until between 3 or 4am and sleep til 1 or 2pm. But I have a night job, my house is clean and I still cook and have time to do activities so I am not lazy. I just can't do things before about 2 in the afternoon. No big deal. What is there to do so early in the morning that I can't do in the early afternoon? Unless I want to go back to school or get called for jury duty it's all okay.

I suppose thats a really good way to look at it. I posted that post a whle ago and my pattern has changed again. i'm managing to sleep at about 3 now. but still sleep on till about 12 or 1. Like you i can't do anything early in the morning. i just can't function.

consider endocrine diseases too. Cushings is notorious for messing up your diurnal rhythm. You are tired all day---and awake all night.
Check thyroid too.
