Can anyone tell me what scabies feels like or looks like? I've had a rash o my tummy, legs, arms for about 2 yrs. The steriods creams help but I continue to get bumps (itchy.) My Dr. tooke skin sample & a biopsy. She wants to rule out scabies before doing anything else.

I have so many reactions to drugs that I am afraid to risk the Scabies treatment. My husband hasn't had any rash.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

i came in contact with scabies when i was a teenager (20 yrs ok 25 yrs ago)
they usually start between your fingers and toes and itch like you would not believe...i can't imagine that you could have had scabies for 2 yrs and not known for sure!!! plus they are pretty easy to contact, bed sheets etc. so i can't imagine your husband wouldn't have gotten them in that amount of time.

i think they spread pretty quickly..mine started between fingers then were on my forarem...they look like a raised rash and with mine they ran in a line...they burrow under the skin so you don't actually see the mites...and i mean itch like mad!!!...the lotion i used was a prescription from my dr. i want to say "kwell"...like i said its been awhile...sorry so long but hope this helps you...it just doesn't sound like mine did...but glad you got it checked!! best of luck..kelly

Hi Kelly,

Saw the Derm this week. He said the biopsy just shows thickened skin & perhaps a drug reaction. He says Scabies has to be ruled out before doing anything else. I'm still nervous about doing that treatment. So for right now I'm going to start the house cleaning which has to be done before treating anyways. That will take a lot of time since I have a big house. Furniture has to be covered in plastic etc. Will get ready to have the carpets cleaned. That will give me time to do some more research. If I do the treatment, I want to cover all my bases so that I don't have to do it again. I may even do some skin scrapings myself cause I don't have that many bumps. He said that the mite could be one place on the body & cause the skin reaction on another part of the body.

Thanks for your input as it really helps a lot. Glad your bout with Scabies is over & done with. Fam
