In 2007 my pap with hpv test was postive. i recently did the test and it is negative. does that mean i dont have the virus

No, that means it's dormant... you have good chances of keeping it that way by staying healthy and active (eat lots and lots of greens and fruits/berries etc) and keeping your immune system up so it can supress the virus for as long as possible.. not keeping up your immune system could result in the virus becoming active again and possibly advance into something dangerous. But you should be just fine.. talk to your doctor about the results and ask him/her the same question. As long as it is dormant, you should be unable to spread the virus to someone else, but keep in mind that you don't have a way to tell if it is active or not without doing a test and results could change within months..
The virus will remain in your body for life, it's just not always active and it is a good thing when your test is negative because it means your body can control it.

You will always have the virus, but it means that your immune system has suppressed it (good news!)

However, you'll always have to keep up with your pap tests, as everyone should, in case symptoms return or you get another strain of the virus.
