How many types of hpv or there? b/c i heard there was a hundred and i don't believe that. When u find out u have it and u get the surgery to have it removed by cutting a layer out of your cervix does that mean u get rid of it? Is cervical cancer caused by hpv?

Yes,from what the Docs. say theres over 100 different strains of HPV or sumething but only a certain amount of those are sexually transmitted im not sure how many tho. In most cases Cervical Cancer is caused from HPV but not all cases are. HPV is a very contagious STD you get it from sexual contact skin to skin contact from an infected person because the virus lives in the skin of the genitals. High Risk HPV is the kind that can cause Cervical Cancer Low Risk HPV causes Genital Warts. People who have High Risk HPV will never develop Genital Warts so they may never know they have it till they get an abnormal pap an are diagnosed with it at that point. Some women never get an abnormal pap an may never be diagnosed because of it. Men with High Risk HPV are just carriers of the virus they might have a higher risk of Penile Cancer but it really doesn't effect them they only know they have it if a women their with finds out she has it an he's the only guy who she's been with. I believe the only way to diagnose Low Risk HPV is if a person develops Genital Warts im not sure if theres a Blood Test one can take to find out if they have the Low Risk kind. You can have Low Risk HPV an never develop Genital Warts they call these people asymptomatic one who never develops physical symptoms just carries the virus. There is no cure for HPV so you will have it for life so if you did develop Cervical Cancer removing the cancerous cells will not get rid of the virus.

Yes, there are over 100 types of HPV. Twenty (+/-) of those cause problems in the genitals.
Yes, HPV can lead to cervical cancer. It can also lead to anal cancer, penis cancer, vulvar cancer, throat cancer. It "can" become cancer, it isn't an absolute if you have HPV then you will get cancer. It isn't like that. Most people can suppress the virus, others can't.
Removing the lesions/cancer from the cervix removes the cancer. It is possible (though small percentage) that it could come back later as vulvar cancer, etc. This is why it is VERY important to continue follow up doctor's appointments and to make sure each doctor knows you are diagnosed with high risk HPV (if, indeed you have been).
