my mum is 65 and has recentley developed red patches under her breasts, on her back and faintlt on her tummy, she has also been complaining of itching groin wich she has rubbed and made sore, what could this be.

Try switching laundry soaps. Sometimes you can develop an allergic reaction and it shows up in places where clothing is in direct contact with the skin, like the areas you mentioned.
