I was wondering if a woman infected with herpes can transmit this quickly. I was in a relationship with someone for 4 years and was not aware I had herpes. Up to this date he is fine, does not have herpes. Is it possible that women do not transmit this as quickly as men? Or was it just luck that he did not get it? Or maybe he has it but has not shown any signs of it?
I am taking valtrex, should I definitely use a condom if I have sex with someone else? What is the percentage that he would get it if I dont use a condom?

Herpes is a very serious disease,it can be very possiable that u can transmitte herpes to your partner especially if u had breakouts when u where having intercoarse .The safest way not to transmit herpes to your partner is always use protection ,even if u are takeing valtrex, but if u really need to know more the best solution is to talk to your doctor that person can give u the answere that u would really need to know and what to do,It may be possiable that u have transmitted to your partner or may not have some people dont even get systom of any type of verneral diseases, they can be walking around for a long time with the viruse in their sytem and not knowing so my best advice is for that person to get check

I have herpes as well. Let me share some information with you that my doctor passed to me concerning this STD.

Men carry this disease and can live their whole lives never showing one symptom of Herpes. If you are not having a normal and noticeable outbreak at the time of intercourse and you use protecttion there is less that a 5% chance of passing it on. But remember you can have what is called a 'atypical outbreak' in which case you are actually shedding the virus but have none of the normal symptoms.

You also stated that you are on supression therapy with Valtrex, correct? This is another plus for you and I would assume that the 5% chace mentioned above decreases drastically due to the supression therapy. Like you, I take my Valtrex once a day :)

If you need some more information please let me know. Like I said in a previous thread that I started I am quite familiar with this disease. If I am going to have an STD I, by golly, will know everything about it.
