Hello,
Living in Oklahoma the weather changes are dramatic and cause a lot of allergy problems.
I recently found a hard lump on the left side of my neck, it feels like a swollen gland or something. The right side has one that isn't swollen, but I can feel it.
It's nonpainful, and doesn't give me a problem swallowing, talking or anything. I've been gargling with hydrogen peroxide since I found it, which gives a little relief.
I do smoke, and I recently stopped drinking.
Could the cession of alcohol after a long period of mass use have anything to do with a weakened immune system from withdrawl that would cause a gland to swell? I've also had lightheadedness on and off, and a runny nose comes and goes.
The lump isn't bothersome, and has only been here about 3-4 days. Sometimes I feel like excess mucus is built on it, which the peroxide can rid of a lot.
I've quit smoking as much since, and feel like it can only make it worse. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
-Bobby

Hello Beelees,
I am not trying to scare you, but...
My father recently found a lump as you described and it turned out to be cancer (according to the doctor, the type of cancer cells were squamous). The doctor removed most of it, as well as the salivary gland, and now my father has to have radiation because the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in both of his lungs. It all happened very fast.
It may be nothing to be alarmed about in your case, but, it would be wise to see a doctor ASAP to get a biopsy done to be sure.
Take care,
LaurieBelle
