marsha841 06-29-2008, 11:54 PM how can I suppress a cough from Lisinipril Sponsor Edelweiss 06-30-2008, 03:49 PM Although I take Lisinopril and have no apparent side effects, I've read where many people develop the "Lisinopril Cough". Apparently, it's a frequent side effect of the drug. I would contact your physician. He may want to try a different bp med for you. Good luck. violet312s 07-04-2008, 01:16 AM Unfortunately there are no known ways to suppress the cough that are approved. Some experimental things involving dangerously high doses of iron have been mentioned (PLEASE DON'T TRY THAT!!!!!). Nothing at all medically safe has been found to work. Very frustrating as lisinopril is a cheap and very effective drug for those that don't get the cough. I had the cough too. Just unbearable. Now I'm on an ARB which unfortunately have no generics available. Sorry :( tfkeel 07-04-2008, 08:00 PM You want to go back to your doc right away. I had an episode which started with cough while on another drug (Altace) of the same ACE-inhibitor class which resulted in my windpipe blocking off in spasm. |
