My GI Doctor said that the Pill in women causes the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to open more/ie relax and stay open longer than it needs to. Most of my symptoms (according to him) have to do with me being female and on the pill (also thinks I have IBS and said that many women have it and that being on hormones won't regulate it any if you do have it- you will still experience a surge in pain during that time of the month).
Just wondering if anyone has read on this- that the Pill can cause reflux type symptoms (for me its always gagging even with very small meals or just water) Temperature changes do this to me, too. Not sure if going from cool to hot and gagging your head off is due to the LES or not.....
I plan to do some research, but just wondered if anyone (female) else's GI doctors mentioned this.
