View Full Version : Beta blocker adjustment

Someone asked me how I re-scheduled my meds but I can't remember which post it was. I now take my alpha/beta blocker (900mg twice a day) about 10-11am & then take a nap for about two hrs. My evening dose is about 10-11pm so that I essentially sleep off most of the fatigue side effects although I still have the muscle weakness for a few hrs. Since my husband sleeps less than me, my nap in the morning makes up for my sleep debt.
When possible, I think it is important to try & work our meds in with our normal routine (always check with your Dr. if needed).

I'm getting so much more done now that I don't have those fatigue periods so often. Fam

Fam,

I wonder if the Labetalol is fast acting (has a short half-life). I would think so, because I had to take mine twice daily like you. Do you find your new schedule helps lessen your fatigue?
I will try to remember your suggestion in case I have to take this drug again. I find that my current beta blocker makes me just as tired at work as the Labetalol used to. I yawn a lot and feel sleepy and exhausted. A cup of coffee helps overcome the fatigue. Thank goodness for the Starbucks right next door! :)
