I have been on BC for almost 8 years. I just went off about 4 weeks ago. I will be 30 this year and my husband and I decided to start "trying" in the spring. Needless to say, my period has been on and off for the past few weeks (which I expected) My question is, is it normal for me to be very emotional when coming off of birth control?:( I seriously feel like I can cry at the drop of a hat. I know I have heard of this happening when women go on the pill, but what about off the pill. I have been on Yasmin for the past 4 years and was on alesse before that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your hormones are trying to get back to normal. Any kind of hormonal problems such as mood, weird bleeding or not bleeding at all, headaches, cramps, backaches, hot flashes, etc. the list goes on, should be expected when going off the pill. Your entire body is trying to detox right now, and it's not easy since you were on the pill for a while. Start taking a strong women's formula vitamin every day and drink a ton of water because you have to get your body back into normal mode. And probably it wouldn't be a bad idea to get on some high quality probiotics, too, because that should help you a lot, too.
