hdl 43
ldl 128

chol/hdl 4.2

My cardio wants me to start zocor because of the ldl numbers...Is this reasonable.....below is a small history

I had a thallium stress test and my cardiologist said that i have an obstruction to blood flow....I askes haow bad and she said that the scale of blockage is
Mild, Moderate mild, moderate, moderate severe and severe....she said mine looks like its mild...she said I need to take a baby aspirin and she put me on zocor because my LDL was 128...all the rest of my casrdiac panel was good.....does this sound reasonable? I have also been diagnosed with PACS, and I still have wierd beats sometimes....

I had an echo and the echo showed abnormal LV function
now while I was having the echo i was having ALOT of skipped beats.....would this effect the echo...

also had a holter and there was a couple of skipped beats and the Dr wasn't too worried about it

My EF was 55% I'm 44 yrs old normal BP
thanks

It looks like your doctor is aggressively treating you for the LDL-C, in light of the minor blockage discovered during your stress test. If that is not a false positive, then you definitely want to be aggressive with steps that result in your ratios improving. One of the benchmarks they use is that for those of us with risk for CHD, or with it, that our LDL-C be <100 mg/dL.

The rest of your lipid panel looks good, but in the end effect, its not about just looking good. You want to make sure you are doing everything you can to reverse, arrest, or at least slow the progression of what could be the slight blockage identified by the stress test.

Did you have both the thallium imaging and the technicium imaging done after exercising (dual isotope)? I am guessing you did and the mild ischemia showed up after exercise on the treadmill, but you have no irregularities in the ecg while performing the exercise?
