View Full Version : Antibody neg but PCR ?

Hello all

I have been having pain in my liver area for a few years now, I had blood work done in Jan which was normal, again in March which showed AST & ALT ( at least triple normal levels ) to be high, about a week later the doctor checked my AST & ALT levels which were found to be normal.

I was then tested for HEP A,B,C ( A pos consistent with immunisation ) and all were B negative and C undetectable

I was referred to a Infectious disease specialist who has said that although my HEP C antibody test showed negative it would still be possible to be HEP C positive through PCR testing, as there is a very small percentage of people who will not develop the antibodys and therefore test negative.

Has anyone heard of this being the case ?????????????

This all stems from unprotected sex a few years ago, so its not as if the antibodys havent had time to build up. ( tested Negative for Aids )

Symptoms are, pain in liver area front and back, sinus/ears problems, burning septum, tongue looks very white, occasional blood blister in mouth, penile thrush at least 5 times a month, night sweats, periods of light headed feeling almost like a rush/vertigo !

I would be so greatfull if anyone can help me please.

Thanks you in advance of your reply
